The 100 village project
Along with our worldwide work we decided to adopt a few villages with the aim of providing them with quality life. We started conducting regular weekly classes and giving deekshas. It did not take long for things to change. It was mostly women attending, but their families felt the change. Up until this time home was a place of conflict for most of the villagers. Suddenly these families wanted to spend time together. Drinking and spousal abuse became less and less a problem. These families started bringing more and more people to the classes and to Deeksha. This phenomenon has evolved into what is now known as the hundred village project.
The project actually includes closer to 140 villages. All are found within a radius of 12-15 kms around Varadaiahpalem. These simple and almost entirely uneducated villagers share a common vision; to create communities that are truly happy, that demonstrate higher consciousness at a collective level.
- The villagers have better living conditions now.
- Health has greatly improved, there are now mobile health units going to all the villages.
- Alcohol consumption has diminished to less than 20% of its previous levels in some of these villages.
- Domestic violence is almost eliminated, no longer street fights, leaving the police with much less to do.
- The economy has boomed, unemployment is down so low that anyone who wants to work can do so.
- Education quality has improved, children are pursuing higher educational studies like engineering and medical courses which were beyond their wildest dreams earlier and either doing their engineering or medical.
- Youth have discovered vision and the possibility of a meaningful life.
Tribal Empowerment in India
The focus was more on their spiritual growth than basic necessities because any other kind of help would be no good unless people also knew how to be happy. The index of development in any community is happiness. If you can create truly happy people, that will lead to all the other changes in the community.
Vision:
- To holistically enrich the lives of 9 crores tribal across the length and breadth of India by addressing their needs at a fundamental level.
- To empower the tribal people to handle everyday issue concerning themselves, their careers, their families and their communities.
The focus was more on their spiritual growth than basic necessities because many other organization is eager to provide with medical facilities, education or employment but all these things would be no good unless people also knew how to be happy. The index of development in any community is happiness. If you can create truly happy people, that will lead to all the other changes in the community.
This is achieved by conducting two-day training programs focused on health, wealth, relationships and success. We also conduct other customized programs as needed. These programs have yielded wonderful results.
